Nothing threatens the holding of the finals of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Kyiv, First Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Anatoliy Holubchenko has said.

"I want to assure everybody that as for the city of Kyiv, there are no threats that could cause the cancellation of Euro 2012," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Holubchenko said that during his next visit to Ukraine in June, UEFA President Michel Platini would "remain satisfied with work at the most problematic sites: the Olympiysky National Sports Complex and Boryspil Airport, the construction of which is subordinated to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine."

"The situation with work at other Euro 2012 sites is not critical," he added.

Holubchenko said that around UAH 1.4 billion had been allocated under the Euro 2012 state program in 2010, including UAH 1 billion from the state budget and UAH 400 million from local budgets.

Holubchenko also said that most of the construction work at Kyiv's Zhuliany Airport had been fulfilled and that it was necessary only to create infrastructure. He noted that the necessary funds (UAH 148 million) would be allocated so as to complete and commission Moskovska Square in Kyiv in November 2010.

He said that three metro stations on the line to Teremky district were to be commissioned in the first half of 2011. He noted that UAH 400 million should be allocated for this goal in 2010 and the same amount in 2011.

However, Holubchenko said that if the whole of the required amount were allocated in 2010, then the commissioning of the subway stations could be expected in December 2010 or January 2011.

He said that the city authorities would buy 200 trolleybuses and 300 buses in 2010 ahead of Euro 2012.

He said that seven hotels were to be built in Kyiv ahead of the football championship. He also said that the hostels of all universities and institutes in Kyiv would be used to accommodate all fans and that the funds to repair the hostels had already been allocated.
