On January, 5, 2010 UYTA had a conference in Lviv at one of our members hostels MisterHostel. Subject of this conference was: Legal Issues on Running Hostels in Ukraine". Present was the President of UYTA Olexander Fainin, Vice-President of UYTA Robert Hansen and representative from of the law firm AKTIO Olga Kut'ko. Also present was a vast majority of representatives from the hostel industry in Lviv. There were a number of questions and problems that was discussed such as the difficulty of running hostels in Ukraine and what type of issues that are a burden to the development of independent hostels in Ukraine. In particular, problems such as corruption of local and national government and the threats some smaller, independent run hostels have received from big hostel-chains. Also discussed was the negative aspects of the big hostels chains attempts to monopolies the hostel industry in Lviv and in other parts of Ukraine; and what negative affect that can have on tourism. Additional discussions was Ukraine’s lack of legislation to protect independent small hostels form this types of immoral activity that are conducted by some of the big hostel-chains in Ukraine. Their was also productive talks on how the industry it self and UYTA can help to create activity to promote hostels, and also how one can organize online reservation of properties and tourist services, investment activity, etc.

UYTA and the participants of the conference was discussing the importance of working out these problems before EURO 2012 the round table participants developed a stage-by-stage plan for the hostel movement development, and also decided to support UYTA on presenting a plan for bringing changes to present legislation and improvement for the investment climate in the hostel/ travel industry. Also during a visit to Lviv UYTA President Olexander Fainin met with the Director of Department of "EURO-2012" for Lviv City Administartion Oleg Zasadny, with which the prospects of collaboration of UYTA and city authority of Lviv were discussed in this times of preparation for the Football Championship of Europe in 2012.
