On April 8, 2010 in RIA Novosti (Kyiv) held a press conference "EURO-patrol: 800 days to Euro 2012 with President of UYTA Olexander Fainin, First vice president of UYTA Vyacheslav Konovalov, a representative of the Committee of public control of Euro-12 Nicholai Vorobyov and a representative of the European Youth Movement Lasha Helashvili. During the press conference the problems of Ukraine's preparations for Euro 2012 were discussed. In particular, they highlighted the following topics:
- The state of transportation infrastructure: roads and airports
- Hotel and online booking system for travel services
- The state of stadiums
The participants of press conference presented the journalists irrefutable facts of abuse, non-transparent and corruption schemes, attempts to monopolize of certain sectors of the economy that took place in preparation for the Euro 2012 during 2008 and early 2010, and also discussed some other important issues. The result of the event will be a memorandum, signed by experts of the Public Campaign EURO Patrol, recommendations and suggestions to the executive authorities.

 

 

 

 

 

PUBLIC CAMPAIGN "EURO-PATROL"

Objectively, transparently and constructively about Euro 2012

It is remains less and less time before the start of the UEFA Euro 2012. Promises to prepare for championship in time heard from all sources. But the Ukrainian public is extremely concerned about the negative trends of Ukraine`s preparation. Experts believe that the current state of affairs threatens the timely completion of construction of infrastructure facilities, the planned for Euro 2012. As a result, it can lead to large losses and uncollectable revenue in the hotel, transport and tourism, as well as significant damage to Ukraine`s image in the international arena.

Today most objects for Euro 2012 are built with a larger lag in terms, besides the cost of most of them in recent years significantly increased. Thus, the cost of building the Kyiv Boriypil airport has tripled and the Lviv airport nearly five times. Authority finds that the gap in terms and value of objects, but also stubbornly insists on finding additional sources of funding for audit projects, manage budgets and reducing their cost.

In connection with this, by the Ukrainian Youth Tourist Association`s initiative several NGOs have initiated a social campaign called "Euro-patrol". This campaign has the main task to organize a constructive dialogue between the public and authorities with regard to the preparation and holding in our country of Euro 2012.

Round tables
will be carry out every 100 days. It will be present detailed monitoring and recommendations for following directions, namely:

  • Preparation of stadiums and infrastructure;
  • Status of airports, roads, city paublic transport and other objects of transport infrastructure;
  • Status of tourism infrastructure: accommodation facilities, online booking systems, tour operators, etc.;
  • Training of human resources: volunteers, professionals, learning foreign languages;
  • Providing information resources, signs, Internet resources, information centers, etc.

 

Experts of the Public Campaign EURO patrol will be offer to officials, specialists and journalists in order to discuss the problem discussion and problem in Ukraine`s preparations for Euro 2012 and also submit their own vision of ways to solve these problems.

The public must know the truth about the real state of the football championship in 2012!
